James Rae
Senior Civil Engineer

Professional Overview
I completed my Bachelor of Civil and Construction Engineering (Honors) at the
Queensland University of Technology, graduating in 2016.
I commenced my engineering career while completing my studies as a cadet
drafter, where I was exposed to civil design of predominantly urban
developments, including land development, shopping centres and schools. This
provided me with a firm foundation to develop my skills as a professional
engineer.
Following my graduation, I progressed from drafting to design and
project management roles for roads and highways, urban developments, drainage
infrastructure, water infrastructure, wastewater infrastructure and coastal
infrastructure throughout Queensland. This included preliminary and concept
designs through the detailed design and construction documentation.
In addition to design roles, I have been heavily involved in the Contract
Administration and Contract Management spheres of the profession and have
undertaken Advanced Contract Administration Training from Contract Control
International. Throughout my career, I have experience in the compilation of
contract documentation as well as the administration of AS2124, AS4000 and
bespoke contracts across various sectors for private, local and State Government
clients.
I have spent a significant part of my career delivering infrastructure projects for
Remote Indigenous Councils throughout Cape York and the Torres Strait and am
intimately familiar with the risks, challenges and issues that are specific to these
regions, therefore, allowing me to actively manage and mitigate risk throughout
the design and delivery phases.
I am a Member with Engineers Australia (MIEAust) Chartered Professional
Engineer with Engineers Australia (CPEng), is on the National Engineering Register
(NER) and hold Registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of
Queensland (RPEQ).
Career Highlights:
Contract Administration and verification services for significant transport
infrastructure projects for both the Queensland Department of Mains Roads and
Queensland Rail.
Contract Administration and Contract Management for various remote indigenous
Local Government Organisations delivering various municipal infrastructure
projects including roads, airports, seawalls, barge ramps and sewerage

Concept and detailed designs for various infrastructure projects throughout Cape

and coastal infrastructure such as barge ramps and seawalls.
Damage assessments on behalf of Local Government under the DRFA funding
